Get your QR code
- Open the official portal: fuelpass.gov.lk.
- Pick "Vehicle Registration" (new registration) or "Vehicle Login" (if you registered before and your details are unchanged).
- Enter your NIC/passport/business registration number, mobile number, vehicle registration number, and chassis number exactly as on your CR.
- Enter the OTP sent to your phone.
- Save the displayed QR code as an image on your phone — and print a copy as backup.
Before you start
Have these ready: your NIC or passport, the phone that receives OTPs, your vehicle registration number, and your chassis number copied exactly from the certificate of registration. Most failures come from a mistyped chassis number, so double-check 0 vs O and 1 vs I.
Important notes
- Registration is free. Anyone asking for payment is running a scam.
- Use only fuelpass.gov.lk — ignore lookalike sites and WhatsApp "agents".
- Quotas are set per vehicle category and can change; check the official portal for the current figures.
- This is an independent guide site, not affiliated with the Sri Lankan government. For the full background, see our FuelPass explained page.
